Experience the feeling of flying as you zipline above the trees and see the beauty of Kauai. My husband, mom and I signed up for the eight line course at Skyline Eco Adventures on Kauai and had an amazing afternoon of fun and adventure.
Skyline Eco Adventures is located in the Kukuiula Shopping Center in Poipu on Kauai. It’s super easy to find and nice to have an area to kill some time if you arrive early. We signed waivers, got weighed and were outfitted with our gear. I was surprised and happy to see that our group was small. I’m not sure if this is the norm, but we had nine people in our tour. I had ziplined on Kauai before and I remember the group being larger – which means more time waiting.
While in the lobby we learned that Skyline Eco Adventures is very active in giving back to the community and the planet. They’re part of One Percent for the planet, giving back one percent to support environmental issues around the world.
The Road to Adventure
After check in, we climbed into the shuttle van and were on our way! It was about a ten minute drive through Poipu to Lawai where we turned off towards the mountains. The company warns you that you’ll be hiking half a mile total and we started right away with a brisk uphill trek towards the first zipline tower.
Although my heart was beating fast from the hike, it sped up a little faster as I stood at the top of the platform looking into the valley I was about to zip over. Then I was off – soaring over the tree tops! The first jump is the most exhilarating with the thrill of flying and the rush of adrenaline from the jump.
The lines range in length from 350-1200 feet and are named after Hawaiian myths on Kauai. Each has a plaque telling the legend, providing a fun and educational way to pass the time while waiting to zip. You can see a map of the lines that cross the valley on the Skyline Eco Adventures website.
You’ll be zigzagging back and forth across a lush valley with views all the way to Poipu and the ocean. Make sure to remember to take it all in. Look around and look down – the sights are stunning!
Planning Your Kauai Trip
If you want a fun way to explore Kauai that isn’t too strenuous but thrilling, you might want to book a ziplining tour. It’s great for ages eight and up. We took my mom and she loved it! Make sure to reserve your spot in advance because tours can fill up – especially in the summer and during winter break. If you add this activity to the Tripidee trip planner, you’ll remember it and see the location on the map so you can best plan your days.
