Hawaii grows a lot of bananas so it only makes sense to find a dessert spot serving soft serve made from local bananas. If you haven’t had banana based soft serve before, you’re in for a treat!
Our friends recommended this spot to us when we used Tripidee to crowdsource suggestions for places to eat off the beaten track on Oahu – we’re so happy we found it!
Farm to Table
Banan focus on farm to table and table to farm. The company sources their fruit locally for the freshest flavor and the best impact on the local economy. They also give back to the farms by feeding the pigs with the discarded banana peels and fruit waste.
Good For The Body
The soft serve is non dairy – so almost everyone can enjoy it! Banan comes in several different flavors with Hawaiian fruit or herbs. We loved the lilikoi (passion fruit) banana and need to go back to taste the greens flavor (banana, mint, kale, spirulina, and ginger). These treats give you a sweet moment without all of the fat and added ingredients found in soft serve or ice cream.
Photo Worthy Treats
If you love photos of food, we recommend the papaya boat. It’s delicious and so much fun to photograph! Our boat came piled high with soft serve and topped with coconut shavings and fresh fruit. Yum! You can get a range of color too depending on your flavor choices and decorate even more with added toppings.
Banan has multiple locations on the island of Oahu, so it’s easy to plan your trip. If you’re staying in Waikiki, you can get your Banan right in town – it’s located near the Cheesecake Factory – they even have a special coconut bowl here! You can also swing by Banan on the way from hiking Diamond Head. It’s the perfect idea for cooling off!
